How recurring rides and return legs work, and why publishing the trip home doubles your chances.
One-off and recurring rides
A one-off ride happens once, on a date and at a time. An intercity run on a Saturday is a one-off.
A recurring ride runs on chosen weekdays at the same time — the Monday-to-Friday commute that Pool exists for. Recurring listings match the weekday of the date you search.
The trip home is a ride of its own
When an owner tells us they drive back too, that return leg becomes searchable in its own direction. A rider looking for Gulberg to DHA at 6:30 pm finds the person who drives DHA to Gulberg at 8:15 am and returns in the evening.
These results carry a Return leg label, and the card shows the other leg’s time, so you always know which direction you are looking at.
For owners: say whether you drive back
The offer form asks plainly whether you drive back, and at what time. Answering yes makes your car findable in both directions, which roughly doubles the number of riders who can see it.
You are not committing to carry anyone on the return leg. It only means riders going that way can ask.
Common questions
- Can I find a carpool for the journey home as well?
- Yes. When an owner drives back, that return leg is searchable on its own. Search your evening direction and time, and return legs appear labelled as such with the outbound time shown.
